Nauru Overview

Nauru is a small island in the South Pacific Ocean, south of the Marshall Islands and is the world's smallest independent republic. A maritime, equatorial climate tempered by northeast trade winds from March to October. The wettest period is during the westerly monsoon from November to February, making March to October a much probable and better time to visit the island.

Nauru was the leader in opening up the glories of the Central Pacific to travelers by establishing the region's first modern international airline.

Nauru has some of the finest reefs to be seen in the south Pacific, and tourists can usually while away their time with activities like fishing, diving and indulging in other water sports. The underwater scenery is amazing, and diving can be a fun experience. Having these finest reefs, Nauru underwater have been a major fishing sites. You can catch yellow fin, tuna, skipjack, mahi mahi, wahoo, barracuda, marlin, shark and more.

Major hotels in Nauru also have dance shows of at least one per week, most of them on Saturdays. Nauru shopping makes travel to Nauru much more interesting and enjoyable. Nauru shopping includes various types of items. Shopping forms an integral part of every tour. Generally imported goods are sold in these superstores. You can shop for straw hats, clothing, electronic devices, ornaments from shells and liquors.

Getting To & Around Nauru

As of October 2008, Nauru's national carrier Our Airline flies twice weekly to Nauru International Airport from Brisbane Airport in Australia with a stopover at Honiara International Airport on the Solomon Islands. Flights depart Brisbane on Thursdays and Sundays and return from Nauru on Sundays and Fridays. There are additional flights from Honiara on Fridays and Sundays.
