Moorea Overview
Moorea is an island in the Society Islands archipelago, only a few kilometers off the northwest coast of Tahiti. The island of Moorea is one of the most well traveled tourist destinations in all of Tahiti. The climate for all Tahitian Islands including Moorea is considered tropical and can be divided into two basic seasons: the wet season and the dry season. The best time to visit the island is the hottest months of February and March. The wet season, April to November is considered off season for tourism.

Anywhere in the lagoon in Moorea is pretty perfect for different kinds of activities. Snorkeling or diving can be perfect to appreciate the real beauty of the underwater life around the island. There are strong currents in some areas around the island that may be suited for surfing. The landscape of Moorea also caters some land activities such as hiking, 4x4 off road tours and horseback riding.

There are the local drinks such as the Hinano bombers and Tabu. Tabu is the local beer in the island. Tabu is better tempered to the Tahitian heat. Unlike Hinano, Tabu is very drinkable at all temperatures. It can be cold, slightly chilled or at room temperature. The Moorea stores offer many things from souvenirs, to lotions to black pearls. The black pearls in Moorea can come in any type of souvenir. You can ask them to make you a ring of black pearl.

You can reach the island using high speed ferries or prop planes provided by Air Moorea from Papeete. The Air Moorea in Papeete is located away from the main air terminal.
