Bora Bora Overview
Bora Bora is a volcanic island in the Leeward group of the Society Islands archipelago of French Polynesia, an overseas collectivity of France in the Pacific Ocean. The island is surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef. The climate of the island is tropical and has a wet and dry season. The wet season is between the months of November and April and is considered the “off-season” for tourism, making the other months the best time to visit.

Bora Bora is known for an island surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef. In the center of the island are the remnants of an extinct volcano rising to two peaks, Mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu. Bora Bora lagoon offers a large diving area, the Bora Bora Lagoonarium. You can come face to face with dolphins, turtles, sharks, sting rays and numerous other fish which call the lagoon their home. The lagoon inhabitants set a stepping stone of Bora Bora to become a divers’ paradise.

There are four basic things you can do in Bora Bora. This is the place where you can forget all the worries in life and just relax. Just lie down on the beach and soak in the sun. You will find hundreds of little shops in many markets of this island, selling handicrafts, local food products, jewelries, garments and other beautiful artifacts. Getting To & Around Bora Bora
Air Tahiti flies several times a day from Tahiti. The airport is located on a small motu (islet) north of the main island. Transfer to the main island or to accommodations located on other motus is done by boat. There are free ferries that will take you to the main island. From there, small buses will usually pick you up to take you to your accommodation.
