Pacific Islands Overview
The Pacific Islands have long mesmerized travelers and Fiji and Tahiti are two of the most must-visit islands on the list. Fiji is a multi-cultural society and the best time to visit it would be between April to October. Tahiti is more known as a luxurious getaway especially for honeymooners and has beautiful mountains with tropical foliage and large waterfalls.
Pacific Islands Main Attractions
Viti Levu is the main Fiji Island and boasts of some magnificent landscapes. Vanua levu is the second largest island on Fiji and it has spectacular coral reefs, beautiful rivers and rugged terrain. Taveuni, the third largest Fiji Island is cigar-shaped and has beautiful flora and fauna. The most famous of Fiji islands is Kadavu with its rainforest and mountainous terrain. Tahiti’s capital is Papeete and its beaches are located just south of this city.
Fiji’s attractions include the largest cattle ranch in Yagara and its highest peak called the Tomanivi. Nadi, near Viti levu is a popular day trip and the Garden of the Sleeping Giant nearby is an added attraction. Lake Tagimaucia makes for a beautiful setting in Taveuni. Rainbow Reef and Vuna Reef provide delightful undersea adventures and are popular with divers.
Pacific Islands Activities
Kadavu is a bird watcher’s paradise and the Great Astrolabe Reef attracts scuba divers from across the world. Plage de Toaroto, a beach in Tahiti has white sands and calm waters which are safe for swimming. The Papenoo Beach on the north coast and Papera beach on the south coast has black sand with turbulent waves better suited to surfing.
Apart from surfing, swimming and diving, camping and hiking through local villages on Fiji islands make for interesting activities. Yachting is also a popular pastime. Tahiti is a honeymooner’s paradise and one can simply soak up the sun and relax on its beaches. However, opportunities for surfing, swimming and diving abound. The Circle-island tour is a lovely way to enjoy the breathtaking coastal views. A 4x4 land safari, helicopter tours, hiking tours are also pleasurable activities on a Tahiti vacation.

Fiji has plenty of accommodation options and Tahiti offers luxurious resorts for both honeymooners as well as families. International cuisine as well as traditional Fijian food is available at all islands. Papeete in Tahiti has restaurants offering both local and international cuisine.

Traditional handicrafts at Fiji make for good buys. Tahitian pearls, of course, are world-famous and other shopping can include native wood carvings and monoi oil. Nightclubs offer relaxation at all the islands.

Nadi airport receives the bulk of the international flights to Fiji.Inter-island vessels, ferries and cruise ships are some other ways of visiting Fiji islands. For inland travel, a 4WD is suitable. Tahiti has an international airport near Papeete.
