St Martin Overview
Saint Martin is an island split between French Guadeloupe and the Dutch Netherlands Antilles. The climate on Saint Martin is awesomely tropical tempered by gentle trade winds. The island is blessed with a year-round sunlight that there is no specific rainy season, but one does exist for hurricanes: between July through November. So, might want to avoid this times.
St Martin Main Attractions
Beaches are the main attraction on the island of Saint Martin. It has a total of 37 beaches, with hotels holding property on most of them and to keep down the heat, frozen cocktail become a trendy treat. One of the beaches in the Orient Bay, for example, has an underwater marine reserve where snorkelling and other water sports are available.
Other attractions of Saint Martin are unique sightseeing. Just imaging a passage, where you can stroll through hundreds of colourful butterflies under a tented mesh. It is possible in the Quartier d' Orleans' Butterfly Farm. Other sightseeing can be found in the Pic du Paradis or simply Paradise Peak. It is the highest point on the island with two viewing areas that provide great views.
St Martin Activities
Apart from the usual going to the beach for lazing out and sun bathing, snorkelling, diving, and other water sports, you might want to have an adventure on Hayley Davidson superbikes. Don't hop on a bus and get herded around for a cruise. Ride a hog and enjoy the views, right the way. You might have to contact Super Bikes in Cole Bay on the Dutch side of the island and rent a Harley Davidson Fat Boy, or any of the super bikes for the day or for your whole trip.
St Martin Accommodation & Dining
Both of the Dutch and the French side of Saint Martin offers a wide range of accommodations. At the French side of the island, you can avail from the cheaper budget lodges to mid-range villas to luxury and all-inclusive hotels and resort. At the Dutch Side, you may avail any budget to mid-range accommodation. The island has restaurants that are American, Mexican, Chinese, Italian, Vegetarian and more. The French cuisine and the local flare is an exciting experience to most, but if you are apprehensive about trying new thing, there are other restaurants to dine in.
St Martin Shopping & Nightlife
St. Martin's nightlife consists of many bars, nightclubs and casinos where drinking is prevalent. Many of the clubs have ladies' nights as well as other nightly drink specials. The Dutch side of the island has more night clubs than the French, so if you're up for the party scene, this side is the one where you should stay. The island has a deserved reputation as an excellent place to shop, rivalling Saint Thomas in the US Virgin Islands for price, but with somewhat fewer stores. Shopping is duty free on both sides of the island, with no tax or duty paid directly by buyers.
Getting To & Around St Martin
You might want to consider imagining how the island become busy when you arrive. The Princess Julian International Airport on the Dutch side of Saint Martin is the largest airport and one of the Caribbean's busiest. Last year, over 1.3 million people visited the island just by cruise ships, landing mostly in Philipsburg using an extended wharf. At times cruise ships visit at once and over four to six in high-season.
