St Lucia Overview
Saint Lucia is a British Commonwealth country that is an island in the Caribbean, off the coast of Central America. It lies between the Caribbean Sea and North Atlantic Ocean, north of Trinidad and Tobago. The island has a tropical climate that is moderated by northeast trade winds. There two seasons in Saint Lucia; dry and rainy seasons. The best time to visit the island is from January to April, the dry season.
St Lucia Main Attractions
The Sulfur Springs are one of the main attractions on the island. These hot springs is located just south of the Soufriere. It is a great place to wind up and leave the stress and hustles of your busy career. The sulfur in the springs is great for rejuvenating and revitalizing the skin and help get rid of your dead skins. There is a pool that the hot water runs through, so make sure to take swimming trunks with you. This spring has been driving the tourist back to the island year by year.
Another worth a visit destination in the island is the Pigeon Island nature reserve. It located just north of Gros islet, the location of the one of the peaks of twin Pitons. The reserve is rich not only by the wonderful nature but also some of the island's history. The park has some of the oldest buildings on Saint Lucia enabling the tourist how the ancestors of the island lived their life. The reserve also provides views across to the island of Martinique.
St Lucia Activities
Hiking is the most popular activity in Saint Lucia. There are available rainforest hikes in the island. Several official hiking routes are available. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries site is always pleasured to help you with this activity. Another worthwhile activity in Saint Lucia is climbing the Gros Piton. Snorkeling is also popular and there are number of beaches suitable for snorkeling.

St. Lucia is home to a huge number of resort hotels as well as small boutique hotels and self-catering villas, condos, and vacation apartments. There are also self-catering beachfront villas, romantic hotels and other different types of accommodations to fit any travel budget. Saint Lucian food consist mainly fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and variety of curry, jerk, rice and stewed dishes. A taste of the Lucian cuisine means a delicious stew cooked in coal pots that reflect Caribbean's culture. The specialty is available to many of the local restaurants. You can find a variety of cuisines, from East Indian to Italian including local dishes of course, in a small area.
St Lucia Shopping & Nightlife
If you're having a taste of the Saint Lucia nightlife, it is highly recommended to have a shot of the fantastic Rum Punch. It is hard to go wrong. The punch has two varieties the Chairman's Reserve (cask-age dark rum) and Crystal Lime (clear rum infused with lime). Most bars will have both even at the smaller resorts. Castries market is a good place to find a gift in Saint Lucia. So is the JQ Shopping Mall in Rodney Bay.
Getting To & Around St Lucia
Saint Lucia has two airports, the George FL Charles Airport and Hewanorra International Airport. There are also cruises from neighboring islands.
