Wilson Island Main Attractions

Wilson Island is an important turtle and bird rookery fringed by a white coral beach and covered with Pisonia Forest. From November to March, the island is home to wedge-tailed shearwaters and green turtles laying their eggs. The island is closed during the month of February for the bird nesting season. From January to April, baby green turtles hatch and make their way into the sea, while from June to September; humpback whales can be seen going to and from their winter feeding grounds.

The natural wonder of Wilson Island can be considered different in any month of the year. You can make a nature diary out of it. First six months can be written this way: January is the peak breeding season for the birds. February is when bridled terns, roseate terns and wedge-tailed shearwater eggs hatch. March for birds showing breeding plumage, young wedge tailed shearwaters leave their burrows in April, last of the turtle hatching can seen emerging from their nest during May, and sightings of humpback whales on June and July.
