Tasmania Overview

Tasmania is the smallest and the only island state of Australia. Its population is roughly half a million. It is isolated to the rest of Australia for thousands of years by a body of water called the Bass Strait. Distinguished by a cool temperate climate with four distinct seasons, Tasmania is best during the summer season. That's from December to February.

Tasmania Main Attractions

The landscape of Tasmania is amazingly unique from the one of the mainland. The landscape varies from rugged mountains with lakes and waterfalls to hills, sandy beaches and unspoiled national parks and world heritage areas. The landscape displays the same flavors of nature as of Australia with its collection of exotic fauna, from twelve bird species unique only to its territory to the famous Tasmanian devil that inspired the monstrous yet adorable Looney Tunes character.

No one could ever forget the Warner Bros Looney Tunes character Tasmanian Devil, often referred as Taz, the monstrous yet adorable. In Tasmania, Australia, you can find the real thing, the Tasmanian devil, a carnivorous marsupial that found exclusively on the island. These amazing creatures are of the size of a small dog but stocky and muscular. As it feeds, nothing goes to waste for they eat everything to the bone.

Tasmania Activities

Apart from the typical activities like lazing out on the beach and having a swim, Tasmania has more to offer. If you have interest in fishing, there are trout guided anglings in the island. Trout Guides and Lodges Tasmania Incorporated (TGALT) is the industry body that was voluntarily formed in 1981 initially called the, Tasmanian Professional Trout Fishing Guides Association. Its primary purpose was to provide anglers with a source of guides that they could be assured would provide a safe, appropriate and professional service. On top of that, Cradle Mountain offers one of Australia's best trekking routes!
