The North Island is one of the two main islands of New Zealand, separated from the South Island by Cook Strait. Like every island in New Zealand, North Island has a subtropical climate with four distinctive seasons: summer, autumn, winter and spring. December to February is the summer season of the island and it is the best time to visit the island.

Getting To & Around NZ North Island
The easiest way to reach North Island is having a flight to Auckland and riding a bus to different parts of the island. You can get to Whangrei, Paiha, Dargaville or Cape Reinga. The travel may take two to five hours from Auckland to North Island.
