Lord Howe Island Travel
Lord Howe Island Overview
Lord Howe Island is an island territory of the Australian state of New South Wales situated in the Tasman Sea some 550 km east of the mainland. Lord Howe Island was listed as a World Heritage Site in 1982 on account of its beauty and biodiversity. Warm maritime currents from the Coral Sea endow this iconic island with a near perfect climate often likened to perpetual spring. Guests experience warm summers extending into autumn (November through April).
Lord Howe Island Main Attractions
Tee off in one of the most picturesque and challenging golf courses in the world found on Lord Howe Island. The greens slope gently down to the lagoon shore and meander through Kentia Palm forests. Visitors are welcome to play in the Friday 'chicken run', a nine-hole game beginning at 3pm, or turn up for the 18-hole Sunday competition. A popular event is the Open Golf Week held every November with plenty of prizes up for grabs. Bring your own clubs or hire everything you need at the Golf Club.
For an island with warm climate, Lord Howe Island boasts secluded and pristine beaches. One of the best beaches in the island is the Lovers Bay. This secluded, tiny beach seems the perfect place for lovers. It is away from most of the "action" on the island, but just a swim away from the brilliant coral reef. Many weddings services have been performed here, that's maybe where the place got its name.
