Hayman Island Overview
Hayman Island is located 33 kilometers (20.5 miles) due east of Australia's North Queensland coast, nestled between the coast and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia's fabled Whitsunday passage. Hayman Island has a tropical climate but with less average rainfall than measured on the mainland in nearby Proserpine. November through February is the best time to visit this tropical island paradise.

Hayman Island is a continental island of some 294 hectares, rising to 250 meters at its highest point. The resort is located on the southerly shore fronted by a sweeping sandy beach and surrounded by 14 hectares of lush tropical gardens. A variety of birds inhabit the island, such as White cockatoos, painted lorikeets, kookaburras and kingfishers. Guests may catch sight of Hayman's colony of Proserpine Rock Wallabies during an island walk and experience the natural bush land and Australian flora and fauna.
