Great Keppel Island Overview
Great Keppel Island lies 15 kilometers from the coast off Yeppoon, Central Queensland of Australia. The island is the largest of the eighteen islands in the Keppel Group, and covers an area of more than 14.5 square kilometers. The island enjoys a tropical climate with two distinct seasons: dry and wet season. The best time to visit the island is from May to October.

The island has always been attractive to tourist, with centuries old middens testifying to the quantity of seafood found in the surrounding waters. The best snorkeling spots are Shelving Beach, Monkey Point and Clam Bay, all within easy walking distance.

Shopping is the thing that has been cut short in the Great Keppel. However, there are some specialty shops in Great Keppel. You may buy some souvenirs there.
Getting To & Around Great Keppel Island
To get to Great Keppel Island you can either take a boat or fly. There are chartered flights available from Rockhampton to the island which can be booked through the Great Keppel Island Resort. Freedom Fast Cats offer boats to the island. You can also take a water taxi from the Keppel Bay Marina to some of the smaller islands.
