Tiga Island Overview
Tiga Island lies at the southwest of Kota Kinabalu, Kimanis Bay, Malaysia. The island is the main island of Palau Tiga Park. Tiga Island has a sunny tropical climate so the best time to visit the island is from February to May. However, the best time to visit the island for diving is from April to August.
Tiga Island Main Attractions
The famous attraction of the island is its uniqueness. The island is known for its unique and wonderful natural attractions in this eco-paradise. One of its known natural wonders is the unique mud volcanoes. The island is one of the only known homes for this amazing natural wonder. Its remote location and unique features like mud volcanoes, tropical jungle and clear waters is perfect for a deserted island adventure, much like when it was featured as the place for one of Survivor’s, the reality TV show, seasons. Even though it was featured as the venue of an international TV show, the island has retained its unspoiled beauty.
Another attraction of the Tiga Island is the amazing underwater experience. You can find dozens of dive sites around the island. The underwater world of Tiga is known for the coral reefs and marine life as the reefs serve as a home to different species of fish and other creatures of the sea.

The unique island of Tiga showcases different activities. Other than lazing around, swimming and snorkeling, you can also do jungle trekking, kayaking and diving. Getting To & Around Tiga Island
There are three ways of getting to Tiga Island. The first is by car. From Kota Kinabalu, it is a 140km car ride to Kuala Penyu, the departing point for Pulau Tiga. The boat ride takes about 30 to 40 minutes from here. An alternative is to travel by speed boat directly from Kota Kinabalu. This takes between 60 to 90 minutes. The last alternative is a helicopter ride direct to the island.
