Langkawi Island, also known as the legendary island, is the largest of the 99 islands in the archipelago of Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia. It has been known to be legendary for the myths associated to its ancient geological formation. Langkawi has one of the more steady climates for an island in Malaysia. Situated on the north western coast of Peninsular Malaysia in the Malaccan Straits, it is protected from major winds and storms by the mainland on one side and Sumatra on the other.
