Labuan Overview

Labuan Island is located off the northwest coast of Borneo, north of Brunei and faces the South China Sea. Labuan has tropical climate with two annual monsoon seasons – the Southwest monsoon from April to June and the Northeast monsoon from September to December. However, this island is free from hurricanes and typhoons and enjoys good climate all year round. So, tourists can enjoy the beauty of this island all year long.

The famous attractions on the island are the significant historical destinations in Labuan. Labuan War Cemetery, Allied Landing Point and Japanese Surrender Park are major WWII sites for tourist. You could experience “Remembrance Day” celebrated every November in Labuan Cemetery. This cemetery has a recorded 3,900 graves of fallen heroes of World War II.

Other attractions of on the island are the rich marine life in the waters of Labuan which attracts many sport-fishing enthusiasts. Labuan island is also home to dense jungles which are rich in flora and fauna. The waters of Labuan contain a lot of wrecks with rich marine life that are dive heavens for divers.

An offshore financial centre is available, so you don’t have to worry of getting broke after your shopping. As for the nightlife, it’s pretty basic. Bars are available throughout the stretch of the island. They serve different drinks from whiskey to cocktails. These attractions along with its nightlife make Labuan the ideal choice as a business holiday and getaway destination.

Getting To & Around Labuan

Going to the island, you may take a plane using the daily flights from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia Air or Air Asia. You may also ride a ferry, five trips from Brunei, at least two ferries from Kinabalu, one from Lawas, two rips from Limabang or two ferries from Sipitang.
