Koh Samet Overview
Koh Samet is well known and popular not just for the crazy parties and the diving experience but because of the peacefulness and quietness of the island, and not to mention it is near Bangkok thus making it the most reachable island beach resort in both locals and tourists. Same as the other beaches in Thailand it is best to visit Koh Samet in the month of November to April since the sand is not to dry and the sky is clear to see the moonlight shine. The climate In Thailand is called tropical weather which there is only two season the dry and wet season.
Koh Samet Main Attractions
The three islands that are well known in the Koh Samet area are the Ko Kruai, Ko Kham and Ko Pla tin. These three beaches in Koh Samet forms a great quiet and peaceful beach for locals and tourists to enjoy. The island has a rental boat for tourists to rent for their fishing and boating trips. Tourists can also snorkel and dive at its clear waters and enjoy the vast population of it coral reefs.
Aside from the three islands there are some places you can visit and enjoy like the Ko Thalu. The places are great for scuba diving and snorkeling. The Ao Wiang Wan is also a great place to visit. This is the place where most fishing activities are held. And lastly in Ao karang where great sea foods are served fresh from the sea in their restaurants.
Koh Samet Activities
There are lots of things you can do aside from diving and snorkeling, you can do hiking at the forests at the island or for more peaceful way of enjoyment you can do yoga and massages. Sports fanatic do surfing and wind surfing while some play at the beach. there are also not water sports like volleyball and Frisbee. Last among the list you can just walk at the beach and lay at the white sand and watch the sun set.
Koh Samet Accommodation & Dining
There are lots of places you can sleep in; the accommodations vary from the bamboo bungalow house to normal households. Rates vary depending on what type of house you are renting. The usual range per night is between 350baht to 550 baht. Local citizens are now helping to maintain the healthy tourism in their island. Koh Samet has lots of restaurants filled with great cooks. They take pride in their cooking ability especially in cooking seafood dishes or cuisines. Most restaurants in the island serves international foods but you must not try to forget to taste their local dishes which is their specialty.
Getting To & Around Koh Samet
You can go to Koh Samet to a boat ride. There is a boat for rent that ferries tourists in from the island to Bangkok. You can also ride bus by riding from the eastern bus terminal to the ban phe then ride a boat in getting to the island. The price for the fare is 150 baht and it is about a 3-4 hrs trip from the city to island. Always check your things for security reasons in the island.
