Bali Island Travel

Bali Overview

Bali can be found 2 kilometers from the eastern tip of the island of Java and west of the island of Lombok. Visiting Bali in the months of July and August, Christmas and New Year would be difficult since it will be very crowded. School and national holidays are no exemption. However, Bali, when visited outside of the peak season can be much more accommodating because of its great discounts and serene atmosphere.

Bali Main Attractions

The Balinese temple has been known to be one of Bali’s most prided attractions. The Balinese temple design has always perplexed visitors who come and gaze at its beauty and history. The decorations of the temple have something to do with either their earthly or spiritual nature which then considers its functions. There are three common elements by which all the temples here share: jaba(outer courtyard), jaba tengah(middle courtyard) and jeroan(inner courtyard).

Other attractions in Bali are its countless Hindu temples. Each village is required to construct at the very least, three temples which they should also keep and maintain: the pura puseh or the temple of origin, the pura desa or the village temple and the pura dalem or the temple of the dead. The nine directional temples are also one of the most visited tourist spot and much to say the most prominent. These temples were constructed at strategic points designed to provide protection to the island and its inhabitants from dark forces.

Bali Activities

There is more to the shopping, the beach and the partying in Bali –this is what the Hindu culture and history teaches. There are many hot springs in Bali, which tourists can enjoy. Bali has also been known for its great spas with treatments readily available as one would wish. Bali has also been a usual place for weddings. The beaches in Bali are also great for surfing, scuba diving and sunbathing, while inland you can go hiking and white-water rafting.

Bali Accommodation & Dining

Restaurants in Bali serve both Indonesian and international food, and American fast food chains have well represented themselves as well. KFC, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut and Starbuck’s Coffee are among those of the American chains that you will find. One must know though that their menus have adapted to that of the local taste of the people and will find a huge difference from their menus that they serve in America. The smaller chains of restaurants in Bali although cheaper, have better foods. Make sure to try the famous nasi goring and mie goreng. Roving vendors, known as kaki lima which means five legs, also offer some of Bali’s most authentic foods.

Bali Shopping & Nightlife

Bali has also been known to be a shopper’s paradise. A big range of cheap but quality products can be found anywhere in Bali. Shopping for clothing can be really dreamy. With popular sports wear emptying your pockets at home, prices in Bali are 30-50% cheaper. We advise the Jalan Laksmana as a good starting point.

Getting To & Around Bali

Tourists often arrive at the Denpasar’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, it can be found between Kuta and Jimbaran, which is actually thirty minutes from Denpasar. Airports in Bali are not as classy as those of the other countries. It is however working efficiently and is naturally complemented with expensive restaurants and duty-free shops.
